“I met Tricia while studying early childhood education at Purdue and we have been friends ever since. When Tricia was first diagnosed with cancer, we were in our early thirties. I saw first-hand what cancer can do to a person and a family. Sure, we all think of the big things, like bills racking up and not feeling well, but there is so much more to cancer than that. Who is going to pick up the kids from school or daycare? Who is going to cook meals while a spouse works? Who is going to clean the house, run errands, complete school forms, plan birthday parties, and so on? It was an eye-opening experience for me to witness just how much help someone may need when they go through cancer treatment, even those with wonderful friends and family. Like they say, it takes a village. Tricia took her experience and turned it into a way to help others going through what she went through so when she asked me to be on the board for Tricia’s Hope, it was a no-brainer. I love helping others and I love Tricia’s Hope.”
